Biography
Born in Ireland and raised in Nigeria, Lamar Eshilama has always seen the world through a fractured lens—one shaped by both struggle and resilience. Growing up in an environment marked by hardship, he found solace in creativity, using art as both an escape and an exploration of the self. It was through his own relentless research that he discovered he was living with a disorder— a revelation that not only reshaped his understanding of his experiences but also redefined his artistic voice.
Rather than seeing this as a limitation, he embraced it as an intrinsic part of his creative process. Each identity, each shifting perspective, brings something unique to his work—textures of memory, contradictions of emotion, and glimpses into the fragmented yet interconnected nature of identity itself. His art is a reflection of multiplicity, blending chaos with cohesion, abstraction with clarity, and pain with transcendence.
Through his work, Lamar challenges perceptions of mental health, trauma, leisure and selfhood, offering a raw yet deeply intentional expression of what it means to exist in a mind that is not singular, but many. His pieces serve as both a personal narrative and an open dialogue, inviting others to explore the complexities of human consciousness and resilience.
Now, as an established artist, Lamar continues to transform his inner world into something tangible—art that does not just tell a story, but lives it.
